| The Reunion Committee
would like to pass on a huge thank you to everyone that
attended our 50th Reunion. The Reunion exceed the
Committee's expectations in every respect. Although the
final count isn't in, we had approximately 65 classmates
attend with a total of around 110 including spouses.
Only one person couldn't attend that had committed and 6
classmates came that weren't on the list. Some had
not attended a reunion in over 40 years. Those that couldn't
attend, missed a great weekend. .The Friday night
welcome party was held at the Four Seasons Clubhouse.
Almost everyone attended the party and filled the
clubhouse to overflowing. A debt of gratitude goes out
to the committee that setup the clubhouse. A special
thanks go to Bill and InaRae Chittum Ussack for
making the arrangements for us to use the clubhouse.
There was plenty of great food and drinks for everyone.
The Saturday dinner and
dance was held at the Elks Club. We had a full house and
fine food for all. The highlight of the evening was the
appearance of Ruth Acorn Wyman's grandkids. They have a
singing group composed of three grandkids and a friend
on the guitar. They had previously sung at our 40th
Reunion. They love 50s music and did an excellent job
singing many of the "oldies" that were familiar to us
all. Few could resist dancing while they were
singing.
A large group showed up
on Sunday for the Goodbye Luncheon. A big thank you goes
out to Aerlyn and Carlene Bryant for volunteering their
house and lawn for the luncheon. Everyone brought a
salad or desert to share. What a feast!! We had enough
food for twice as many folks. The weather cooperated and
the sun broke through for most of the afternoon. The luncheon
started at 11:00am and didn't breakup until well after
4:00pm.
Everyone had a great time
and there was a lot of discussion about holding a 55th
Reunion in 2013. That decision has not been made yet. A
lot can happen in 5 years.
Last, but definitely not
least, the biggest thank you must go to Sue Wilder.
Without her, there probably would not have been a
Reunion. Sue is the heart of the Class of 1958. She has
been the center of all class related activities for many
years.
This includes the Monthly Dinners, the weekly Coffee get
together at Fairmont, the yearly Campouts and the
Reunions and Class Treasurer. Without her dedication and
constant involvement these events would probably fade
away. Thanks for everything you do Sue. You are truly
appreciated and loved by your classmates.
One final note. InaRae
has opened a Class Group at
Yahoo.com. She is inviting everyone to visit the
website and signup for the group. It will act as a new
communication format. It provides additional ways to
share information and photos that this website does not. |
